Making Change Happen

I recently achieved something that I have been wanting to do for a long time. I left Sydney and moved to a seaside country town. Prior to moving to my new place, I lived smack in the heart of Sydney's inner city living. I lived in Potts Point, but to be honest it was really living in Kings Cross, Sydney's seedy red light and drug district. There is just one street called Kings Cross, and I lived just below that street by one block. The Kings Cross strip is to me, a very depressing place, especially with the amount of people I have witnessed on drugs and are homeless.

My little apartment was small, noisy and it didn't even have a balcony. I could never sleep properly there. This was hard for a woman who needs to be surrounded in nature. My obstacle (so I thought) of moving is because a publish a Sydney lifestyle website, and I felt I had to be in Sydney to do that. I also get invited to a lot of events because of Sydney Chic (my blog) and it certainly gave me a very social life. It was also wrecking my health, all the parties with champagne flowing!

I was very fortunate that my dad, and my eldest daughter lived in the country so I was a regular visitor up here. My yearning to be here kept getting stronger and stronger, and I knew deep down it was part of my destiny to make this courageous move. I work at home as a digital marketer and website builder, so I can do that anywhere, a big advantage. As for my blog, most of my writing comes from research and press releases plus product reviews. I also do a number of hotel and restaurant reviews, but that is easy as I can commute back to the city whenever I want to.

On the 27th November 2017 I created an Instagram post and declared to my followers I would be moving up this way. I had no idea how, or when I could make it happen. I moved up here. I moved up here on the 19th December 2017. It was fast, and I made it happen.

Since I have been here, nearly a month, I have no regrets. I am healthier, happier and I have lost nearly 4 kgs. I've been walking along the beach daily, gardening and spending time with my family. My biggest thrill is I am actually spending less time on my computer but still managing to get all my work done. The photos throughout this post are from my iPhone for Instagram, that's my life now! I have gone from chaos to calm and if you scroll through this blog, my destiny has always to be writing about more about life and inspiration than fashion! I've always known that.

So if you are looking to make change happen, I can share with you the tips that I used to make this huge change in my life. I hope it helps, because if you are stuck in a rut and not enjoying your life, then something is wrong and life should not have to always be unhappy, the majority of life should be happy. Of course, there are always going to be obstacles and terrible things happen, that's also a part of the journey. I have always believed that if you want to make something happen you can.

MAKING CHANGE HAPPEN

  • Make the decision on what you want and then make the commitment that you will do it.

  • Take action - for me I actually travelled to the area to find a place to live and I happened to find the perfect place at the last real estate agent I visited that day.

  • Believe in yourself and trust that you have the ability to do this.

  • Say goodbye to fear; you have to let it go.

  • Trust in the Universe (by that I believe in what we focus on we get, good or bad).

  • Create a visual to remind you of what it is you are aiming to change - you can make a vision board, or maybe a private Pinterest board.

  • I'm repeating step one - make the commitment then make it happen!
